Help the victims of the Sumatra, Indonesia, earthquake


On September 30, 2009, a major earthquake with a moment magnitude of 7.6 hit the west-northwest of Padang, Sumatra, 220 kilometres (140 mi) southwest of Pekanbaru.

The death-toll estimates range from a few hundred to over 1300, with thousands more trapped in collapsed buildings and under landslides. Government reports confirmed 715 deaths in West Sumatra province.

Help the victims by donating money (even a penny would be great) or publishing your sympathy at your blog, favorite social media site etc. or just talk about it to make people aware of this tragedy.

China proud of human rights development

Although many say China definitly has not reached the standard of the western world´s application of human rights yet, there is a lot of positive movement in the recent history of China. To celebrate the 60th birthday of the human rights declaration The China Society for Human Rights Studies held a seminar called “30 Years of China’s Reform and Opening-up and Human Rights Development” in Beijing.

Luo Haocai, president of the China Society for Human Rights Studies stresses that there were many improvements in the chinese society. Human rights and the prosperity of a society are deeply connect and China made a lot of progress in both fields. PD
