Clinton warns China to not repeat the US environmental mistakes
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made the environmental consciousness an issue while visiting China. In her speech she told the audience to not repeat the US approach of handling the industrial fumes:
“What we hope is you don’t make the same mistake we made, because I don’t think either Chinese and the world can afford that.”
At this point Hillary Clinton already met her chinese counterpart Foreing Minister Yang Jiechi with whom she generally agreed on the development of clean energy technology that would use renewable resources:
“Now we are smart enough to figure out how to have the right type of growth, sustainable growth, clean energy driven growth.”
Untill now China and the USA are the world’s biggest polluters, so it seems reasonable that Clinton adressed her mostly young audience this way:
“I know that your future depends on what decisions we will make now.”
