Help the victims of the Sumatra, Indonesia, earthquake


On September 30, 2009, a major earthquake with a moment magnitude of 7.6 hit the west-northwest of Padang, Sumatra, 220 kilometres (140 mi) southwest of Pekanbaru.

The death-toll estimates range from a few hundred to over 1300, with thousands more trapped in collapsed buildings and under landslides. Government reports confirmed 715 deaths in West Sumatra province.

China´s Rail network to grow by 3,000 km

Almost 40 cities in China are building or planning to add 3,000 km of urban rail lines, a report released by the Development Research Center of the State Council has said.
